I live in Western Australia...

In Australia - because of Port Arthur - a lot of firearm owners over
here will have to surrender their
firearms by end of Sept 97. (At least its a 'buy back' scheme! Not
straight out Govt confiscation!)
They will lose ALL self loading long arms; and ALL pump action Shotguns!
I'm going to lose a Pump Shotgun and a Ruger 10/22. (Yes, a Ruger 10/22!
They are extremely
dangerous weapons you know!)

Too many firearm owners over here have been, and are very complacent. "I
don't own a military
style (self-loader!), so who gives a damn!") BUT, new and stringent
regulations will be enforced, that
require shooters/firearm owners to JUSTIFY and demonstrate a 'NEED' for
all of the other firearms
they still want to hold/retain. (This is the 'sleeper'! A lot of firearm
owners don't realise yet what this
will mean to them! But this part is the hammer that will come down on
them! Many will be forced to
give up their other firearms (bolt actions, etc). BUT, without any
compensation! (The 'buy back' is
only for 'prohibited' (military style) firearms! And then won't they
squeal, with righteous indignation!!!
Ha!

Owning a firearm for SELF-DEFENCE is NOT acceptable to the Police &
Government here.
(Though many firearm owners here, would do the deed! And in the past,
some have!)

Citizens have no 'natural law' rights to own firearms here! (This is
what our Government says! And
the people accept it.) The right to be a victim? Yeh, that's fine! The
Government is quite happy to
tolerate that right of their citizens.
Of course the Police and Military will still be armed! (And the
criminals of course!)
In which case, how do the people remove a government, if it were to
become a tyranny?
I guess in the end we all get what we deserve?
The basic law of the universe is; That all things are constantly moving
towards a state of balance.

To you in the U.S.A. Don't give up your right in Law! We, in Australia,
have not been so fortunate.
