Heads up, everyone!  These so-called "surveys" may be legit, HOWEVER
the Bureau of Justice Statistics is preparing their next SOURCEBOOK
even as I type.  These so-called "statistics" are little more than
tables of public opinion as to how bad crime is and have PRECIOUS
LITTLE to do with the statistical REALITY of how bad crime is.

I was told last year by one of their chief scientists that the
SOURCE(of lies)BOOK was used by policy makers to make informed
decisions.  ?!?!

They don't care about what is true.  They care about how you "feel."
Now that's what I call science.  When I challenged her about this
tendency to sell "surveys" as "statistics," I was (basically) told how
nice it was to live in a free country.
